Anode Accessories
Magnesium
The sacrificial anode of choice is the high-potential magnesium anode cast of 'primary magnesium'. State of the art production techniques yield a higher open circuit voltage (driving) potential than conventional H-1 alloy anodes. These anodes produce potentials of 1.70-1.75 volts, allowing protection levels to be achieved using fewer anodes. As a result, you have a higher current output anode, making it ideal for use in higher-resistivity soils, while also performing very well in lower-resistance environments. High Potential Anodes are cast to meet ASTM B843, Alloy M1C.
Zinc
Zinc anodes provide a very simple, cost-effective, maintenance-free method of corrosion control for buried or immersed metals such as iron, steel, aluminum, copper, etc. It is especially useful for unattended applications where other cathodic protection systems requiring monitoring, frequent maintenance or an external power sourceĀ is not possible.

Plattline is an ideal primary or supplemental cathodic protection system. It can also be used as a temporary system prior to the installation of an impressed current system.
Aluminum

Galvanic cathodic protection requires the periodic replacement of consumed anodes. In heater treaters and other production vessels, MESA aluminum anodes make the change-out process easy. These anodes deliver a voltage of 1.10 volts (with respect to an Ag/AgCl reference cell). The alloy contains nominal percentages of indium, zinc and silicon. This, combined with the anode's shape, allows MESA's anodes to offer the best current outputs available. The chemical composition of this anode also has a proven track record for delivering superior protection in produced brines with elevated temperatures.

Mesalum indium alloy anodes are available for protection of steel in brackish water and sea water, even at elevated temperatures. Nominal capacity in ambient sea water is 1150 ampere hours/lb.
